NOTE: As from 20 November 2014, the Deeds Office has taken away the option to request bulk data in Excel format which means you will need a converter to convert the information into a useable format. Luckily we have a robust converter so this move by the Deeds Office will not affect us and the service we deliver to our clients.

In August 2013 the Deeds Office suspended their Excel export for bulk data (it has since been reinstated). The reason given was that it fails on large datasets. How the system currently works is that when you request bulk data from the Deeds Office, a TXT file will be generated on the Deeds Office mainframe. From there an automated script runs that converts it to Excel format. This conversion fails in certain cases providing the end user with incomplete property information. In our experience the conversion not only fails on large datasets but randomly fails.
We have picked up these errors and notified the Deeds Office (hence the temporary suspension). During this period we wrote our own converter to convert the TXT file from the mainframe to Excel format. This is working 100% and a true reflection of the Deeds Office information. Having access to this unique converted allows us to provide bulk data far quicker than normal. We have turned around large projects within 24 to 48 hours.
