Letsemeng Local Municipality is an administrative area in the Xhariep District of the Free State in South Africa. We were tasked to spatially link and verify all properties within the Letsemeng Municipal area to the cadastral data of South Africa.
We were given an Excel spreadsheet of 12 970 properties. The first step in the linking process was to match the records against the captured properties on the Surveyor General mapping layers. Using the various tools and GIS systems to our disposal we were able to match 12 932 (99.7%) properties.
The remaining properties were captured manually from the Surveyor General diagrams resulting in all properties being captured spatially.
The next step was to identify any property that was subdivided or consolidated. Our Bulk Data Tool was used to search the Deeds Office to identify these properties.
Centroids for all the properties were generated that is need for the field work undertaken by the client. The final dataset was uploaded to Dropbox allowing the client easy access to the information.
